Multiple web-based attempts on or off?

Can we have a discussion about what situations it would be best to have single vs. multiple web based attempts  in Learn?

We currently have some stakeholders who want to have "one and done" courses; whether you pass or fail, the course is completed. We can do this by using the pass/fail option when publishing SCORM courses, but only if we have multiple web-based attempts turned off.

We have always had multiple attempts on, and I am wondering what functionality we would lose if we turned it off. Obviously, being able to go back in and take a course that you've already taken - but this happens rarely. Are there any other pitfalls we need to look out for ? What are you using on your site, and what is the rationale for choosing that ?
