CDO records mapping via API post

Hello everyone,

i am trying to post a cdo record by following this logic :

POST /api/REST/2.0/data/customObject/12/instance
Content-Type: application/json

but although the contact exists and the mapping criteria is via email, the cdo record is not mapping. The response is with " "isMapped": "No"

i searched entire community but i couldn't find a straight answer. any ideas?
