Is there a way to expand the Global Search bar on all pages?

Our team is currently exploring the use of global search and we've received some UX feedback that it would be more effective to have the search bar for Global Search exposed all the time vs having it show as a magnifying glass on certain pages (see top right hand side of this page for an example).
We've explored using page composer; however, no luck in getting it to display permanently. Has anyone been able to achieve this? / Is this possible?
