Defualt Language on Event Alert of Alert composer

Hi

I see there is a default language drop down field on Event alert template in Alert composer . Can anyone please help me with information, like what is the use of this field . Is it something like if we set this default language to something like Dutch then all Task alerts will trigger in Dutch by default to user or is there anything else .
