Can we limit the amount of address an employee can create for each type?

Summary:

Is there a way to limit the amount of address an employee can create for each type?

Content (required):

At our clients, we have 3 address types. Each type shall only be used once. Meaning that employees should be forced to edit their address rather then create a new one with the same type. As this leads to two addresses for the same type, which will then crash our integrations.

We are currently trying autocomplete rules, but is there another way? Profile options, anything similar to how it is handled with personal payment methods?
