How can we view an employees current department in performance document reporting?

Summary:

We have a requirement to include the Department Name and Organizational Hierarchy levels in analyses of Performance Document completions. However if an employee transfers to another department, the reports to show the department they were in when the document was created rather than the one they are currently in.

Is it possible for the report to show the current Department instead or is this the intended functionality?
