Do we need to set up Customer ,customer site Demand class as Order EFF for Attribute based planning

Summary:

Hello, we want to set up supply allocation rule based on customer and demand class. These are already seeded fields on the sales order but we were not able to use. We created eff on the order line and then it worked. Not sure if we are making a mistake somewhere or this is intended design to use attribute based planning.
