Is the default MICR MT in MS Word a licensed monotype font?

I'm trying to figure out if our check templates will need updated for the 24A release and am getting the run-around. Does anyone know if the default MICR MT font that is available in MS Word is a licensed font? The way I'm reading/understanding the release notes is that licensed monotype fonts will need to be replaced with open source, but if the font isn't a licensed monotype, then there shouldn't be any issues. We have downloaded/installed the gnu MICR and did try replacing our existing MICR line with it but it was rejected by our banks.
