Syncing EDMCS with EPBCS and GL Metadata

Summary:

I am new to EDMCS. We have EDMCS setup, but it is not in use for past 6 months. Metadata was directly updated in EPBCS and GL applications by users.

Now, we want to sync up the metadata in EDMCS with updates done in EPBCS and GL. Can I use Imports functionality to directly sync the metadata in EDMCS? If yes, is there anything that should be considered before doing this like subscriptions, etc?
