how to deal with outliers to get better forecasting

There are certain outliers in demand, where the demand is suddenly very high for that week, but while generating forecast the forecasting engine is not capturing this trend and is generating forecast too low around that week. what are better forecasting parameters, methods, decomposition groups setting to work it out.?
