Can we have approvals enabled in case employee adds/updates person EIT information?

We need to either give employee the view access of the person EIT or enable approvals so that we can ensure that no garbage data is being added in the system by employee. Can we enable approvals here? Or it possible to remove edit button of person EIT from ESS only?
