Question about overpicking for Process Manufacturing

edited Nov 22, 2023 9:43AM in Inventory Management 4 comments

Summary:

In a Process Manufacturing environment often the Inventory Operator won't pick the exact quantity generated by the Picking Process. That's because the Work Order might require the exact quantity to be consumed, however, the materials are in pallets or full containers.

The Inventory Operator won't dismantle the pallet / container but pick the whole pallet and bring it to the shop floor. Whatever unused quantity will be moved back later.

When trying to perform the overpicking for a manufacturing work order, the system is whether not letting us move since the Item is lot controlled or the Overpicking submits a Subinventory Transfer, leaving the Movement Request Line opened.

Howdy, Stranger!
