Automated way to update Report Doclet POV?

For a report doclet, is there an automated way to update the report POV without having to check out, replace the report, select POV members and check in the report?

We have many PDF Report Packages, where each month only the period needs to be updated in the report POV. Is there an easy way to do this? Currently we are checking out the reports, replacing the report and selecting the new period in the POV selector and then checking the report back into the report package. This is time consuming. The reports are all in a shared library and are linked. Thank you.
