How to configure a by-product in structures

Summary:

We are trying to set up a process that has a by-product that results from the process. The easiest way we thought this would work was to add the byproduct as a negative in the structure. We are being told by our consultants that this is crashing the system. It seems this happens when the dispatch list is created as it is asking for a negative.

Can anyone share how they have set up by-products in their systems? Can we keep the byproduct off the dispatch lists?
