Moving to HR Timing Decision

Curious to hear other organization recommendations, pain points, work arounds, etc. of when you move candidate profile to HR. Is it done immediately upon offer acceptance or closer to the actual start date? Is it automatic or done manually by a user?

We have Oracle Recruiting live, have an API for background checks to initiate with a vendor and use Journeys for pre-boarding and onboarding. We're currently moving to HR automatically upon offer acceptance. Based on our entry level hiring on college campus well in advance of an individual starting employment this can lead to a long pending worker assignment. Curious if other customers have similar business process and how you configured between Recruiting and Core HR.
