How do people manage data load of sick where 2 absences are broken on input but joined as no Return to work

Where an employee is sick Monday to Friday and SSP is paid Thurs & Friday. An additional sick absence is added for the following Monday. The absence should be linked for SSP and because the full absence is 4 or more days. SSP should be paid on the additional day

Currently Oracle is not even considering the Monday because it is less than 4 days. I would expect the link to be checked before the decision to pay SSP
