How can I assign Person Number to the Contacts that were uploaded using HDL

Summary:

I used below template to create contacts/dependents for the employees but the Person Number for the contacts were not generated:

METADATA|Contact|PersonId|EffectiveStartDate|EffectiveEndDate|StartDate|DateOfBirth|SourceSystemOwner|SourceSystemId

METADATA|ContactName|PersonNameId|PersonId(SourceSystemId)|LegislationCode|NameType|FirstName|MiddleNames|LastName|EffectiveStartDate|EffectiveEndDate|SourceSystemOwner|SourceSystemId|PersonNumber


Since the system is already live person number were not provided in the HDL files for the contacts assuming that those will be generated by the system.

The contacts / dependents are reflecting correctly on Contacts as well as Dependents screens but when trying to search for the contacts in person management the contacts cannot be searched as person number is not generated. Is there any way to assign the person number to the contacts or any other way to references them in reports?
