What is the source for 'New Application Extension' workspace

Hello,

We are investigating how to use VBS to extend Oracle HCM. In VBS we have several options to create new workspaces in a project. Clone from GIT, New Application Extension & Import.

What is the source used when selecting the 'New Application Extension' option ? It seems that when I use this, previously deployed customization that are already in the environments are no longer there.
