Contract extension functionality changed suddenly in our instances

We are using "Employment Contracts" quick action to maintain the contracts. If existing contract has the end date then we see the "Add" option.

Earlier when we try to add contract , Extension number automatically used to come as below. (Currently I got below from different internal instance)

After clicking on Ok in above screen

Now in our instance, suddenly we don't see "Extension Number" field. It was working fine 10 days back and as per our knowledge no release upgrade happend.

It is showing as below in our client instances.

What could be reason caused the change in the behavior & extension number is not showing? Does anyone facing similar issue.?
