Excel formulas in Strategic Modeling Freestyle reports randomly not sticking in the models

We are creating freestyle reports in Strategic Modeling containing a few basic Excel formulas for subtotals or simple calculations. It works most of the time but in some instances the formulas are being wiped out (or sometimes modified) after we check-in / check-out the model.

I’m able to type the formula (e.g. a row with a subtotal) and see the correct result in excel (SmartView), then I check-in the model and can validate that I can see the new formula when I check-out the model from the web interface, but the next time I check-out the model in Excel the cell reverts to blank or sometimes to a formula referencing the wrong rows (i.e. original formula was =SUM(D8:D11) and it changes to =SUM(D7:D10)).
