Custom Role Inheritance and data security policies

Summary:

We created a custom role that inherited two other roles (for instance General Accountant, AP Specialist), none of the data security policies were inherited by the custom role, meaning we had to revert back to individual roles for each person. Not ideal for the client. The process for adding the data security policies individually for each of the inherited roles was not deemed workable. Any advice on how to achieve this requirement would be helpful.
