How can I update manager with HDL if I don't have the current manager

Hi,
How is it possible to update the Line Manager of a person in Fusion Cloud using HDL if we don't know who is the current manager when we are building the HDL file ?
When I look at this note the current manager of the employee seems to be a mandatory field the HDL file.

However, we are extracting employees from another system that doesn't have the previous manager.
We are struggle with this. I would really appreciate to know if it is possible to update a manager using HDL Without providing the current manager details.
