Best practice to allocate project and awards

Summary:

Hi,

My ERP team wants to allocate/convert Projects and Awards to employees.

As part of HCM implementation, we are converting two assignment records - hire (say 1/1/51) and top of the stack (say 12/1/23) and see no issues with almost all of employee records.

However, to ensure Projects and Awards are converted, we are requested to 'update' few employee's hire record with their top of the stack assignment details.

Would like to understand is this the only way or how have you handled this in your implementations.
