Error when trying to rehire an employee

When we try to hire an employee which has already been hired before, we get an error.

We get access to the quick action Hire an employee to rehire an employee/apprentice/intern/collaborator/supplier. After entering the data of the employee to be rehired, when the employee to be rehired is selected the system gives the following error:

And then we get this one:

Note that we got this error when trying to rehire with the custom HR role, but not with the Super User HR. Is this issue related to privileges and roles or is this a bug?
