How to add a filter to the Learning Catalog page with Visual Builder

Summary:

We are needing employees to search/filter the learning catalog by flex fields. This was supported in the old UI but we are now on redwood and have lost this feature. I have gone into visual builder on the learn-landing page and can see the variables for exploreFacetsArray where you can add a field. When I go to add a field/create variable, it will not let me finish the create. Can anyone confirm if what I am trying to achieve is possible and if so, what I am missing to move forward.

Note I can see the code in the second screenshot I would assume we could modify and would just need that sample code. Also related is that when modifying any of the code, you can override it of course but when you start typing it completely clears out the existing code. There does not seem to be a way to edit the code, or even copy it out.
