Optimal number of Category and Topic Communities for Redwood?

Summary

What number of category and topics communities make for a great end user experience when browsing the catalogue in Redwood?

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

We need to review our catalogue structure before we move across to Redwood. I'm interested to hear how others have leveraged the category / topic community structure to help give a great browsing experience.

We currently have one Category community containing 12 Topic communities. This has worked fine for us in responsive UX, but I suspect it is going to look a little sad in Redwood. I saw a post earlier advising no more than 12 category communities, but I've not found anything about recommended number of topic communities, or number of courses per community.
