Restrict BI Author to Read-Only on Custom Folder

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information): In the OBIEE catalog, we want users with the BI Author role to retain Write and Create privileges but restrict them to Read-Only on certain custom folders. It doesn't seem like folder permissions are being adhered to if we set the BI Author Role to Permissions "Read,Execute". Does anyone have a solution for this or is this not doable?
