How to change contact associated with chat?

How can I change the contact id on a historical chat? I can find chat details via a report, but I am not allowed to inline edit the associated contact id to change it.

Content:

Because we do email change requests via an external system, if a customer creates a chat with the new email address (typically to ask how to change their the email address on their account...) a new contact is created with the newer email. Then they get instructed on how to change their email, which creates a ticket in Oracle for me to update their original contact in Oracle. At this point, two contacts exist. I need to keep the original, fixing the email, and delete the newer one. After a little shuffling I can easily get the new email updated
