How to create packing units on Shipment Lines using REST API/Webservice?

Hi,

I have a requirement to create parent and child packing units on a shipment line using REST/SOAP webservice with all details such as Gross Weight, UOM, Packing Unit, Packing Unit Type, Volume etc. Please let me know how to achieve this. Appreciate quick responses!!
