ESS personal information approvals which are assigned to roles unable to see the information changed

When an employee make transaction in personal Information in ESS, we have a ruleset to trigger an approval to a role and this approval notification not showing any detail of personal Information that is modified. But when I change the approver from role to user I am able to see the information which is modified. Here wanted to understand when an ESS approval assigned to a role why we are not able to see the information that is altered?
