Inventory Transaction Import - FBDI CSV Generation Error

When attempting to generate the csv files from the Inventory Transaction Import FBDI the excel will pause/hang for several hours and then eventually excel crashes. The FBDI has hundreds of thousands of rows of data. Any advice on how the FBDI can be used to process large volumes of data?
