Exceptions do not close automatically

The business needs some production exceptions to be closed automatically after a certain amount of time has passed.

In 'Report Production Exception', the fields: 'Expected Downtime in Minutes' and 'Expected Resolution Date' do not work to automatically close the exception.
In Oracle help center I did not find a description of the functionality of those two fields. What is the field used for: 'Expected Downtime in Minutes', if a time is entered, after that time the exception is still open?
The same question for the 'Expected Resolution Date' field, after that date, the exception is still open, is it an informational only field?
