Configure approval rules for changes to marital status

How is it possible to configure approval rules for changes to marital status? we are doing it that way (Current Person LegislativeInfo.result.MaritalStatus != Proposed Person LegislativeInfo.result.MaritalStatus)), but we can't seem to change it.
