What is the right place to save Contacts SSN

Summary:

SSN for contacts can be saved in 2 different places. What is the correct place to be used when implementing Benefits ?

When you go to the employee's Person Management > Manage Person > Contacts tab - edit the contact > you are entering the TIN Type of Social Security Number. The information added in the Contact screen is a Flexfield and is stored in Contact Relationship table (PER_CONTACT_RELSHIPS_F) as CONT_INFORMATION1 ='SSN' and CONT_INFORMATION2 with actual SSN.

When you go to the contact's Person Management > Manage Person > Person Information tab - edit the National Identifier, you are entering the National Identifier as his Social Security Number. This is stored in the national identifier table (PER_NATIONAL_IDENTIFIERS) as NATIONAL_IDENTIFIER_TYPE and NATIONAL_IDENTIFIER_NUMBER.
