is inventory item id a valid input parameter for inventory transactions?

we are trying to restrict the expenditure type LOV by map the item category with the exp type in a mapping set, the query worked well in OTBI, but getting failed in the value set, we are wondering if it is because the inventory item id parameter does not work for inventory transactions.
