Future Dated Impairments

in Assets 4 comments

Summary:

Hello,

We have a business requirement to incrementally add assets to CGUs for some asset categories in periods later than when the CGU was first impaired.

Unfortunately, the system only allows Impairments to be deleted in a future period (close current assets period and open the next) than the period in which the Impairment was created. Posting or editing the impairment in a future period also ends with an Error whereas the user is led to believe that these actions are allowed as the buttons are not greyed out.

Oracle Support/Development has confirmed as follows:

You cannot create an impairment batch in a period with the intention of posting it in a future period (because you need to add and/or remove assets to/from the CGU). If the Impairment Date is in a prior period, it cannot be updated to a date in the current period when ready to post it in a different period. Even if you un-protect the sheet and update the impairment date, the system will ignore the change. The system will allow to update the allocation in the spreadsheet itself but this is a futile exercise as the system will not post

Howdy, Stranger!
