Trying to use 'Generate Audit Report'

Trying to use the generate audit report however it returns no results. I have been able to query a logged audit activity via the audit console, so i was assuming this would also be on the report - should they behave the same way?

The form via console only allows to query 1 days activity whereas we need to query for a date range
