Force translate cannot be performed for the current period

Due to some inter company entries posted for the december 2023 we had to reload the data for one of the location Dec 2023 and then tried to force translate the January 2024 period and am getting this error below

I am confused on why we need to do all prior periods just from reuploading December 2023,

I had unlocked all the approval periods as requested in 2018-2020 that were locked. I reran the force translation in every month for 2017 (Jan-Dec), and it worked. As soon as I tried Jan 2018 I was getting this error about consolidating rather than translating. Do I need to force consolidate all the prior years too? I don’t want to mess too much with the prior period data in production.
