SSP linking over 2 separate weeks - customisation of SSP entitlement fast formula?

Hi, we have an issue where sickness absence is imported from Kronos on a weekly basis, where the linking may not take place, due to the timing of the import, so looking for options.

Has anyone successfully customised the SSP entitlement fast formula? I've got a value set already working, which looks for the latest sickness absence, and looking to call that from a custom entitlement fast formula, to check working days between the previous absence, and the new absence, but whenever I try to insert code into a copy of the SSP entitlement fast formula, I'm advised by the compiler, that the fast formula is too large, and to reduce the size. Has anyone successfully managed to call out to an formula to check entitlements?
