Creating pretty formatted Reports in Smart View

Could anyone share their experience in creating pretty 'Board Pack' Smart View reports in Oracle EPM Cloud. With HFM the best way to create highly formatted Smart View reports was to use the HS functions to refer to cell POVs outside of printed areas of worksheets.

In Oracle EPM Cloud using Ad Hoc Analysis seems to limit formatting and additional text. A solution would be to put the Ad Hoc on a separate sheet but this obscures the source to the data.

Does an HFM approach using HS functions work well in the cloud? What is the performance impact?

Are there any other solutions? I like Reports but I wanted something users could do themselves.
