What is difference between supply planned item type: Manufacturing Plan vs Production Plan?

edited May 16, 2024 3:00PM in Supply Chain Planning and Collaboration 10 comments

While creating supply plan, under scope tab and in supply planned items section, we get 2 options for Supply Planned Item Type:

  1. Manufacturing Plan
  2. Production Plan

Questions:

  1. What are these methods?
  2. How does it impact?
  3. How is it linked to item attribute planning method as MRP and MPS?
  4. Share some business case when should be used when?
  5. We understand production plan can act as demand schedule to manufacturing plan (two plan approach), whereas we can plan all in manufacturing plan (single plan approach). How these 2 approach will cause difference?

I understand consultant with EBS background have some idea on this. But many starting their planning journey with cloud finding difficult to identify the difference as no clear document available.

Howdy, Stranger!
