Can we change the accounting structure for 1 type of transaction alone?

Summary:

Currently our accounting structure is based on categories for all the SCM transactions. Currently we are configuring internal transaction for a new inventory organization, there is a requirement to change the accountings for a particular transaction only based on the transaction type.

Is it possible to achieve this without any disturbance to the current accounting setup.

Will there be any important considerations before altering the accounting setup?
