adding new members to years and period dimensions

Summary:

Quick question related to the period and years dimensions. It seems that Oracle does not recommend adding new members to the period or years dimensions. But I am creating a quite special Groovy request, where the best case (from the customer's point of view) would be to use a dummy period (or no period) member on input form. Any thoughts about adding new members to these dimensions?
