how to convert a definition org into Reference Org so as to copy DFF attributes in the Child org

Summary:

I need to copy a DFF value from Master org to Child org, it seems the child org is defined as Definition org in the system. I need to change it to Reference org so that the value is copied. I tried running the process throgh Scheduled process from Manage Inventory Org but that goes into error. Please suggest.
