In forms 2.0, with calc on the fly enabled, users enter numbers into entry cells (L0) and get an 'information' message which states 'back Spread failed: formula expression is null

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

Administrator has set the form to enable calc on the fly. Administrator has set forms to Forms 2.0. Enable User Formulas in Ad Hoc is set to 'yes'. User preferences are set to Enable User Formulas in Ad Hoc = Yes.

When 'ok' is selected, the number entered is visible. But there has been no calculation. Why might that be?
