Is it possible to use extensive flexfields on the create new item screen in Product Development

Summary:

Is it possible to have extensive flexfields available on the create new item screen in Product Development?

We have created two extensive flexfields and assigned them to the item class.

If we create a new item via PIM, the extensible flexfields that are mandatory appear in the create item page and with them we create the item code using a rule. So far, we've made progress and it's working.

The problem is that in an "engineering environment", i.e. creating the new item via Product Development, we can't get past the article creation pop-up because as we haven't given the flexfield values, the rule can't create the code for the item.
