How to write off the cost of a by-product in discrete manufacturing

Summary:

Our client process steel into metal parts. The leftover raw material (steel) is then sold on. The aim is to reduce the cost of the finished product with the result of selling the scrap steel, which is calculated as a fixed cost per Kg.

In EBS we had the possibility of having an item with a negative quantity in a BOM. The result was that this item (scrap steel) was put into stock and its cost was subtracted from the cost of the finished product.

As we no longer have this possibility in Fusion cloud, I was wondering if there was a workaround that would achieve the same results.
