What process have others found to suspend GL Accounts?

GL Account Suspension - We have accounts that are no longer active, but they are still open for posting and keep getting incorrect postings.  What is the best mechanism to suspend posting capabilities going forward?  We use EDM as our authoritative source. Our existing EDM lead wasn't aware of a way of doing that in EDM.
