Purpose Order Name Person Format

I would like to know the purpose of the name format "Order Name". The Documentation only states: "Names that appear in name-ordered lists where the full name alone isn't sufficient to sort the list." However, this is insufficient to know where this name format appears.
I intend to use this name format in an integration, but I need to know if this could have any impact on HCM or ERP, for example.
