NoHttpResponseException/time out error using the web service ExternalReportWSSService

Summary:

We are trying to run a BI report using ExternalReportWSSService and it is frequently timing out/giving NoHttpResponseException. The BI report takes between 2 to 5 minutes when scheduled from catalog. Due to the volume and nature of the data, it can't perform any better. Is there anyway to resolve this timeout issue?
